History of Quilting & Textile Art

For Centuries ,  women of the village would offer torn pieces of fabric as love offering for the new child. Each stitch was prayed over in blessing and protection.

A recieving blanket , means to receive the blessings of all the women  offered stitched by stitch. Plucked from the heavens and pinned down to the earth with each stitch.

These were the same hands that wove the royal tapestries,  embroidered the royal gowns.

But the quilt, was the most powerful , the most resplendant. The quilt was fabric woven in blessing. A gift given, when there was nothing left to give.
